Sunday, I took Krista and her friend to take some pictures of them but I also got some pictures of other stuff. I like taking pictures. Krista wanted their pictures taken on some railroad tracks and there’s a really old cemetery beside the tracks. So I got some pics of both. Here are some random pictures that I took Sunday.

This is a magnolia tree that is in my mother-in-law’s yard

This is a pic from the old cemetery. The most recent date when someone was buried there was 1953. Most of them were buried in the mid 1800′s.

Another shot with our beautiful mountains in the background.

Not sure why this was built around this grave. Any ideas?

Another one of our beautiful mountains and a cute little cabin.
We had a great day of picture taking.

It’s time for us to start looking at new flooring especially in two of our bedrooms. But the vinyl flooring in our kitchen needs replaced too. I’m not sure what we want to go with. There is some many selections out there.
For the bedrooms that have carpet now. Do we want to get carpet for them again or do we want to go with some other type of flooring? If we go with carpet, I definitely want some good Stainmaster Carpet to help resist soil and stains. Plus Stainmaster Carpet would stand up to years of traffic (I don’t want to have to change every few years either). But then there is hardwood or laminate flooring to consider. With either of those you wouldn’t have to worry about stains and they would be better for allergies. With hardwood, you have some many choices from different species (such as oak, pine, maple and hickory) and then there’s hand-scraped (it looks more rustic). Laminate has just as many choices as hardwood and it’s very durable and easy to maintain. Plus, laminate usually comes with a warranty against wearing, staining & fading and it can look like wood planks, ceramic or granite tiles. So the look can be very different.
For the kitchen, I think we are going with a product that a friend recommended Konecto. It’s a resilient flooring (like vinyl) and it comes in strips so its very easy to install. You don’t have use glue, so there is no mess. And Konecto is durable and waterproof so it’s great for high moisture places, like my kitchen or the bathroom (that’s a project for a later date).
So now it’s time to make some decisions. *sigh*

Four Foods On Friday 48
Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. Melon. What’s your favorite kind? Watermelon and cantaloupes are my favorites.
#2. Orange citrus. What’s your favorite – oranges, nectarines, navel oranges, tangerines, etc. Clementines are my favorite orange citrus.
#3. Oreos. What kind is your favorite? (Don’t eat Oreos? What about olives?) I don’t normally eat oreos, but I guess the original ones are my favorite. I also like olives too. The black olives.
#4. Pot pie. Share a recipe. (No pot pie recipe? What about a casserole or some other hot meal you bake?)
Tater Tot Casserole
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 bag tater tots
- shredded cheese
- 1 can of mixed vegetables
- 1 lb of ground hamburger meat
Brown hamburger meat. Add cream of mushroom soup and mixed vegetables and stir together. Pour mixture in the bottom of a casserole dish. Lay tater tots neatly on top of mixture. Place in oven on 350 degrees and bake until the tater tots are brown. Sprinkle with shredded cheese; melt it in the oven. Serves 6 or 7.
ENJOY!

It’s Krista’s senior year and we are getting ready to start looking at some colleges. We are going to visit a couple of colleges in November. She will be taking the SAT in November (trying to improve her previous score) and the ACT in December. There’s a really helpful website, www.collegeboard.com and it has lots of information. Krista even registered to take the SAT online at this website. She wants to become a high school math teacher someday. If anyone has any suggestions or advice, please share it with a comment or email.
Thanks!

This past weekend, Zach went fishing with his uncle and came home with some chickens. He already has 1 rooster, 3 hens and a baby chick (not sure what it is yet). He’s becoming a good little chicken farmer. Anyway, the new chickens are a speckled variety. These are the new chickens. The hen’s name is Speck and Zach’s not named the rooster yet. Any suggestions for a good name for a speckled rooster?

Last night was the premier of Season 7 of Dancing with the Stars. It was pretty good. I can’t wait to see who gets voted off tonight. There was no clear leader after everyone danced last night. I know it was their first night dancing but the judges was a little harsh (especially Len). The ones that I thought were the best were: Cody & Julianne (she’s a personal favorite), Brooke & Derek, Misty & Maks and Warren & Kym. Of course this is my opinion. The couples that might be in jeopardy of going home (in my opinion) were: Cloris & Corky and Jeffrey & Edyta (she’s another personal favorite). Cloris Leachman was a real character last night. Who do you all think was the best? And who do you all think is going home?

I have been really busy the past few days. Thursday evening I had to get stuff ready for the yard sale (that we had today). Friday evening I went to the football game (that we lost…47-10). And today we (the girls and I) had a yard sale. Kecia and James did pretty good at the yard sale but I didn’t do so good (got rid of some stuff but didn’t make a lot of money). But that’s ok.
This evening I went to Elvis’ wedding. Really. Okay, it was an Elvis impersonator’s wedding (he does shows in Pigeon Forge, TN) and it was a really nice wedding. It was my friend’s (and co-worker) daughter’s wedding. And no, the wedding couple wasn’t dressed like Elvis and Priscilla. But I think all that attended had a great time. We danced (I really like the Cha-Cha Slide) and ate too much food and cake. I am really glad I went.
But now I’m really tired and about ready for bed. But one more thing, I really like dancing to the Cha-Cha Slide (and I’m not a dancer). What songs do you like to dance to or do you dance???
