Only two more football games and Krista’s marching days will be history. It makes me sad because it seems to have just flown by. She’s planning on doing concert band in college but not marching. So this will be it. This past weekend at the JSU’s Contest of Champions went pretty good. Our band was one of the twelve bands to make the finals. And they ended up in 5th place which I thought was really good. But Krista was hoping that they would do better. I reminded her that they did make the finals and they could have ended up in 12th place. To me, there was a lot more tougher bands this week. So I think they did great.

Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. What kind of pretzels are your favorite? I’ve been ordering these cream cheese filled pretzels from Schwan’s and, Oh my gosh, they are the greatest!!
#2. What’s your favorite way to eat pancakes? With butter and maple syrup along with sausage links.
#3. Do you make garlic bread from scratch or buy frozen? I buy frozen.
#4. Share a recipe that calls for mozzarella cheese. This recipe is a little different from my usual Spinach Dip recipe.
Cheesy Spinach and Artichoke Dip

- 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed, drained
- 3/4 cup Kraft 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 3/4 cup Kraft Mayo Light Mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup Kraft Reduced Fat Mozzarella Cheese
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients until well blended. Spoon into 9-inch pie plate or quiche dish. Bake 20 min. or until heated through. Serve with Triscuit crackers and assorted cut-up fresh vegetables.

Well, it looks like this is going to be another busy weekend. Today, we have got a road trip to Jacksonville, AL to JSU for their Contest of Champions (that’s a competition for our marching band). I’m really excited about it, I hope we do good. On the way, my son Zach and I (yes, he’s going with me!!) are going to stop and have lunch then we have to stop and get a birthday present for my nephew. Tomorrow is my nephew’s birthday party. His birthday is actually today but the party is tomorrow. That should be fun. He’s the five year old that I’m still not sure what I am getting for him. We are staying at my sister’s house tonight since that’s where the party is at. It should be a fun weekend but I’ll probably be exhausted when it’s over. Oh, well…

My husband and I are planning a remodeling job for our bathrooms. We are going to be replacing just about everything in both of the bathrooms. For our bathroom, I have already found the new shower stall but I have just started looking at bathroom vanities. I’m not sure what I want but there’s a lot on the internet to look at. So this will be a little more difficult to decide. In the guest bathroom (which is the kids’ bathroom also) I know we will be replacing everything in there (the tub, toilet and vanity). I’m not sure what colors I’ll be putting in each bathroom but I think the kids’ bathroom would be cute in frogs. So now that I’m headed in the right direction, all I need is to get hubby busy. I can’t wait to get these projects done!!

Sometimes I wish we had better health insurance. I work for a small company and it seems like the cost is higher and the benefits are not that great for us. I think maybe if I worked for a larger company with more members maybe the insurance coverage would be better and cheaper. And starting in January, most of the doctors in my local area will not be accepting my insurance. That means I’ll have to be finding a new doctor. I found this website for North Carolina health insurance, I wished Georgia had something like that. I might would just get my own insurance and then I could drop the coverage through my employer. Oh, well. I sometimes wish we had coverage like in Canada but then I have heard that it’s not so great. What’s your opinion??

This morning I was watching an informercial about Lipozene. And it sounded too good to be true but things like that usually are. I mean, a pill that says that it reduces body fat and weight without any negative side effects is too good to be true. The main ingredient in Lipozene is Glucomannan which is a soluble fiber that absorbs water which makes you feel full and then you don’t eat as much. So over a period of a couple of months you might could lose a little weight but I would suggest a good healthy diet plan such as Weight Watchers to help lose weight safely. Plus with a complete lifestyle change including a healthy diet, you could lose the weight and keep it off. Now, that would be good.

Here are this week’s four questions.
#1. Name something you use cream cheese in/on. I like cream cheese on bagels.
#2. Do you use yogurt in any recipes? I don’t think I have any recipes that call for yogurt
#3. Macaroni salad. What do you like/put in yours? I don’t make macaroni salad. I usually eat macaroni salad when I get it on a salad bar and then it has to be freshly made.
#4. Share a recipe that you use sour cream in. This would be my favorite recipe that I make that has sour cream in it. This is Spinach Dip like you can get at O’Charley’s but I don’t use artichokes. But you can use artichokes if you like.
Spinach Dip
- 1 pkg. frozen chopped spinach (thawed)
- 1 cup Kraft mayo
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 cups shredded parmesan cheese
- 1 Tbsp. onion powder
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
Mix together mayo, sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder and 1 cup of shredded parmesan cheese (not the grated kind) and microwave until the cheese is melted (about 2 minutes). Stir in spinach and microwave an additional minute or until warm. Sprinkle remaining parmesan cheese on top. Serve warm with tortilla chips.
ENJOY!!

With the way that the economy is, it’s hard to think about Christmas shopping. But I have been making my list and I’ve made some cuts. I don’t do a lot of sewing but I have found this free pattern for a little girl’s skirt at www.oliverands.com. And I think I’m going to try and make it for the little girls on my Christmas list. It’s a very simple skirt so I shouldn’t have any problems and I think the little girls will really like them (all these girls like wearing dresses and skirts). Plus I think getting a homemade gift will be more special.
I also make calendars for my daughter, my sister, my mama and my nephews (there’s two of them). I use the pictures that I take all year long to create the calendars and nobody knows what pictures that I’ll be using. I used to make them from scratch by using scrapbook materials but now I usually upload my pictures to Kodak Gallery and then order them there. It’s much easier this way. My family would really miss my calendars if I quit making them.
Does anybody have special gifts that you all make (year after year) for the loved ones on your Christmas lists??
