Glad It’s Over…Kinda

11.28.2008 | 4:41 pm | General | Tags: , ,

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. We went to my Aunt’s and then to my husband’s Aunt’s and ate too much food. But I did have a really good time. It was a beautiful day and I took a bunch of pictures. (I really need to start a Flickr account and then I could share my pics.)

After the dinners, I went to K-Mart with my girls (Kecia and Krista), the son-in-law and my mother-in-law. They had a great Thanksgiving Day sale and I got a few Christmas gifts bought. Then we went to Big Lots, where my mother-in-law got her husband a recliner for Christmas. I bought the dvd of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Krista and I went home and watched it. It was a good ending to a great day.

This morning, Krista and I went to the mall for a little more Christmas shopping (we got there about 6:30). I decided to pass on going to Wal-Mart after looking at their parking lot.

And now I am here at work but the work day is almost over. Thank goodness. I’m getting a little tired.

I hope everyone had a really good Thanksgiving!!

A Possibility for My Wish List…

11.28.2008 | 4:26 pm | General | Tags: , ,

I was just browsing the internet (it’s a little slow here at work today) and found something that I might would like….It’s the UGG Mayfaire boot! They are so cute and very comfortable looking. And what I really like is the side zip! No more pulling and tugging to get the boot on. Now my girls are probably thinking that I’ve lost my mind but I think they would feel so good. My favorite color is the ‘Sand’ color. And they can be ordered online (that’s another plus).

Oh well, maybe Santa will get them for me…

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I want to wish everyone a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!! Whether you are staying home, traveling across town or across the country, I hope that you all are safe and be careful. I’ll be traveling to my Aunt Jean’s house for Thanksgiving, so my family and I will be traveling about 30 miles. Not too bad.

Before I head off to bed, I wanted to stop a few minutes and think of all the things that I am thankful for. First, I am thankful for my family. I am blessed with a great husband, three healthy children and a great son-in-law. I also have a great extended family. And with the way the economy is and the unemployment rate being so high, I am thankful that I have a job (I personally know a lot of people that have been laid off and are out of work right now). I am thankful that I have a loving church family that I can turn to in a time of need. I am thankful for my health, which is good now (but I need to start taking better care of it). And last but not least, I thankful to have a blogging “family.” I have truly enjoyed all your blogs….I’ve got some new recipes, great tips and well, it’s just been fun. Thanks for stopping by and reading what I have to say. Enough rambling…it’s time for bed now.

Be Safe and I hope you all have the best Thanksgiving ever!!

Black Friday Shopping

11.27.2008 | 12:47 am | General | Tags: , , ,

I’m going to be hitting up the sales on Friday and I can’t wait! This day officially starts my Christmas shopping for the year. I’ve got a few ideas…I’m looking for a new digital camera for Krista, a new Shimano fishing reel for Zach and I think I am going to get Dewayne a GPS. I think a GPS would make a great gift for him. I’m looking at the TomTom brand and it would definitely have to be portable, so that he could take it with him. Of course, I’m going to be looking for Kecia (from iamkecia.com) and James something for Christmas too.

Insurance…Life and Health

11.26.2008 | 5:05 pm | General | Tags: , ,

A friend of mine that got laid off from her job recently is in need of some life and health insurance. The problem is that she has had some health problems in the past few years and having a hard time finding some insurance. She can get health insurance through her former employer (until she finds another job) but it will be very costly, at least she will have some. So right now she is definitely in need of a no exam life insurance and hopefully something that she can afford. I keep hoping that she will find a new job soon and maybe these worries will end. So if anyone has some suggestions of insurance possibilities, let me know.

Thanks!

A Gift For The Son-In-Law

11.26.2008 | 11:09 am | General | Tags: , ,

My kids are always telling me what they want for Christmas but my son-in-law, James usually is not so vocal about what he wants. And if I ask him, he will name of some stuff for his computer and I don’t have a clue about what he is talking about. So this year I’m thinking about getting him some office supplies for his home office. I’m sure that’s something he could use. I know that he could always use some paper, pens and staples…stuff like that. Of course, I will get him something else. Something that’s not so practical and something that’s fun. But what?? I don’t know. Maybe some kind of video game or some cds.

A Great Cookie Recipe

Time for an Eye Exam…

11.24.2008 | 11:48 pm | General | Tags: , ,

It’s time for an eye exam for me and my daughter, Krista. Since we both wear contacts, I’ve been been looking for some inexpensive backup eyeglasses. I found the popular online eyeglasses shop, Zenni Optical. They have the cutest and stylish frames and with their   $8 Complete Rx Eyeglasses you could get several pairs for backups. Krista is always wanting to have a few different pairs so that she can change with different outfits and at this price she can. And with the collection of Holiday Glass Frames From Zenni Optical, both me and Krista could have a few pairs to go with our holiday outfits. My favorite pair for me is the Metal Alloy / Stainless Steel half rim frames and they are only $8.00.

My favorite for Krista would be the Plastic Fashion Full Rim Frame in Green and they are only $9.95. They would look so cute on Krista.

With these prices, I can’t go wrong and I can definitely afford a few pairs for each of us!

A Cold Morning…

11.23.2008 | 11:38 pm | General | Tags: , ,

Yesterday, I had to get up early to take Zach to meet the bus for the first wrestling tournament of the year. And boy was it cold out…he had to be there before 7:30 am. This is how cold it was by the thermometer on my van…

That’s right it was 18 degrees. Now to some of you that might not be too cold but for the south that’s really cold.  And here’s a picture of some chicken houses that I passed along the way, the heat had just kicked on and look at the steam. Yes, I was driving down the road as I took this picture but it’s a small country road and was deserted at that time of the morning.

It was a little warmer today…it was 30 degrees this morning. But it cooled off this afternoon since some rain is supposed to move in tonight or tomorrow.

Oh well, I already miss the warmer weather.

After Thanksgiving Sales??

11.23.2008 | 11:18 pm | General | Tags: , , ,

Do you go to the day after Thanksgiving sales?? I usually do. The girls (Kecia and Krista) and I are up before the crack of dawn ready to snatch up those perfect sale items. I usually get the majority of my Christmas shopping done on this day. Now I know some people that wouldn’t go out the morning after Thanksgiving for anything but I love it!! It’s so much fun!! This year maybe a little different because I have to work on that Friday but I’m still go out and fighting the crowds….I can’t wait!!
