Another Great Idea…

I did a post the other day about getting an LCD TV set for my bedroom and that I would need a wall mount for it. Well, I’ve been doing some researching and I have found something that I would like for the living room. If I got an LCD TV for the living room, I would definitely want to get a tv lift. The tv lifts that I have seen so far are really neat. It’s a storage cabinet for your flat screen, plasma or LCD tv and all the accessories that you would have for your tv. There’s a mechanism inside that lifts the tv up and down (so when you aren’t watching tv, it’s cleverly hidden out of sight). They come in all kinds of styles and different colors. I would like one for my living room in a medium brown color and a slightly modern look. And since we are going to be doing some remodeling this year, maybe a new tv and a tv lift will be in my future. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!!

Keeping Warm And Toasty

12.27.2008 | 11:32 pm | General | Tags: , , ,

During the cold winter nights, I think about a classic electric blanket to keep me warm and toasty. But there is so much more out there to keep you warm. There’s all kinds of things from a bed foot warmer to a heated mattress pad to keep you comfortable during the cold winter months. I especially like the heated throw and I think it would feel really good at night while watching TV or reading a good book. And then there’s a heated travel blanket that I would really like to have because when I travel with my husband (and he’s really hot natured), he usually keeps the heat in the van turned down low and I’m usually freezing. So a heated travel blanket would be great. And with the use of an electric blanket or a heated foot warmer, you could turn down the thermostat which would help save money on the power bill. Saving money is something that I really like doing!! So stay warm this winter!!

Here are this week’s four questions.

#1.  Do you prefer cooking with electric or gas? I have never really cooked with gas…so I guess I prefer cooking with electric.
#2.  How many times a month do you order out? Probably about 5 or 6 times.
#3.  How do you like your ice – cubed or crushed? I really like crushed.
#4.  Share a Christmas recipe.

Gooey Butter Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix the cake mix with 1 egg and the butter and pat into a greased cake pan.
  2. Mix and pour the remaining ingredients over the cake.
  3. Bake at 350F for 35 minutes.
  4. Dust the top with powdered sugar.

This is on dessert that I always look forward to at Christmas. YUM!!

It Would Make a Great Gift…

An LCD TV would make a great gift…I didn’t get one for Christmas. But it would make a great gift and would be the perfect TV for the bedroom. Of course, if I had one for my bedroom, I would definitely have to have a TV wall mount. Because I don’t really have a place to set a TV in my bedroom, so to hang it on the wall would be the perfect solution. So an LCD TV with a wall mount just might be my next purchase and I’m so ready to have a TV in my bedroom!!

A Great Christmas!!

I had the best Christmas ever and I hope everyone else did too! It all started last Saturday with our first Christmas dinner with all my aunts, uncles and cousins. We all had a great time. And then on Tuesday, we had a dinner with my husband, Dewayne’s family. On Christmas Eve, we went to my sister’s for my family dinner. So we’ve had lots of dinners and I ate too much at every one of them. But I really enjoy spending time with all of the family. And I don’t return to work until January 5th. YAY!! Tomorrow is Krista’s 18th birthday!!

So, Happy Birthday to Krista!!

A New Year….

12.20.2008 | 1:05 am | General | Tags: , ,

With a new year just a few weeks ago, I think it’s a good time to make some changes (aka New Year’s Resolutions). First, I am going to try to save more money this year. I’m going to try to achieve this by not eating out as much and not spending money on things that I don’t need or, if clothing, won’t wear. Second, I’m going to do some remodeling around the house, fix things that need fixed and make some changes. And last but certainly not least, I am going to get serious about losing weight. I talked about the lady from work, who’s on diet pills from her doctor. I also plan on working an exercise routine and sticking to it. If I decide on trying some diet pills, I can click here for the best diet pills and get the best prices that are available on the internet. Well, I guess that’s my changes for the new year….I just hope that I can stick to them. I’m going to try really hard.

I’m getting ready…

This past weekend, Krista and I did some more shopping (the guys went hunting) and finally finished decorating our Christmas tree. Friday, I got some really great deals online at Old Navy (I had to place the order by midnight Friday to get twenty percent off and free shipping) plus we did some shopping in town. I got Krista a new pocketbook and wallet for Christmas. And I also got her the new Nicholas Sparks book “The Lucky One.” On Saturday, we took my little nephew to have breakfast with Santa and then we came home and finished decorating the tree.

A New Year’s Resolution

12.14.2008 | 11:20 pm | General | Tags: , ,

With the holiday season upon us, I have been eating some type of holiday goody every time I turn around. So I’ve already started thinking about a diet after the first of the year. I don’t really want to call it a New Year’s resolution because those are usually broken. I’ve been considering the different kinds of weight loss products, such as diet pills, diet plans, and exercise programs. There’s a lady at work that’s been going to a local doctor for diet pills and a diet program. And she has lost about 35 pounds now (in about 3 or 4 months) and it’s working well for her. But I’m a little scared of pills, so maybe I’ll just try a new healthier way of living by diet and exercise.

A Gift for Zach

12.14.2008 | 1:48 am | General | Tags: , , , ,

I was thinking about a gift for Zach (my fourteen year old son) for Christmas. And I’m thinking about getting him a pair of binoculars. He loves the outdoors…always hunting or fishing. I’ve been researching and I’m considering a pair of Nikon binoculars.  They are really rugged, lightweight and they even come in camo, which would be great for use during hunting season. Zach has already asked for a new fishing reel but I always like to get a few gifts that are complete surprises and I think he would absolutely love them.
