Going Green????

04.30.2009 | 10:53 pm | General | Tags: , ,

I hear the phrase “Go Green” all the time, but I would like some suggestions on “going green” that my household could live with. I know about the reusable shopping bags and hybrid cars but I don’t know alot about the Green Study or other ways of “going green.” I definitely would like to be a little “greener.” I know that I could recycle more. So can I get some more suggestions???

Trying to Save Money…at Work

04.19.2009 | 11:30 pm | General | Tags: ,

I am always trying to save money at work. I know it’s not my money but it is my work and the less that has to be spent for things, like office supplies and cleaning stuff maybe the more that can be spent on the employees (like in raises or bonuses). I’ve been doing the shipping for the last six months and I just had to order some custom rubber stamps for the prepaid shipments. Now, I don’t really know how long they usually last or how much that they really cost. But I did some research online to make sure that I was getting the best price. Now if all of the employees would work together and try not to waste products and use them wisely, the company would do better for all of us.

Getting her ready…

04.19.2009 | 11:11 pm | General | Tags: , ,

With graduation just over a month away, I’ve been thinking about the things that Krista will be needing for college….which she will be starting in the fall. She’s definitely going to need a laptop but there’s a lot of other things. She wanted my sister to make her a quilt for her bed, so the bedding has been taken care of. Her room will have a bed, chest of drawers and a desk but she need something for her toiletries (the showers and restrooms are down the hall), a laundry hamper (for when she brings dirty laundry home to wash), and I’m sure lots of other things that I haven’t even thought of. I had better get busy because the time for the big move will be here before I know it.

I Love Candles!!

04.15.2009 | 10:53 pm | General | Tags: , ,

I just love candles! One of my favorites is the Baked Apple Pie from Home Interior. Yes, an apple cinnamon scent is one of my favorites. But I like a lot of other scents, too. I like Fresh Linen and Vanilla. And I also like Cucumber Melon. I bought a soy candle on our Girls’ Weekend (my girls, my sister and some cousins) and I really like it. The wax doesn’t get really hot and you can rub it on your hands (it makes them really soft). The scents that I would really like to try: Blueberry, Citrus, and Cherry. What is your favorite???

Still Wanting to Lose Weight…

04.15.2009 | 10:37 pm | General | Tags: , ,

Yeah, I’m still wanting to lose weight. I keep telling myself that I’m going to cut back on what I eat and exercise more but I have yet to do that. It doesn’t help that my mother-in-law cooks for us just about every night and I can’t pass it up (she’s a really good cook). And I really do want to start walking every evening with Krista. I know I really need to lose weight and I don’t really want to take any weight loss pills (I’m really scared of them). I just can’t seem to get motivated. I know if I lost some weight that I would feel better and that I could go shopping for some new and smaller clothes. I just feel that I need to get my mind set. Maybe soon…

Promote the business…

04.15.2009 | 10:27 pm | General | Tags: , ,

I’m always looking for new ways to promote my husband’s business. He has a new website, it’s www.candcmasonry.org, but there’s so many other ways to advertise. Of course, he has his business cards and we’ve had pens made. I’ve thought about calendars, we have them where I work. If I could find a good deal, I would like to do some custom hats or custom tote bags. With the way the economy is right now, any advertising would be great. Oh well, I’m just brainstorming right now.

Moving??

04.3.2009 | 10:45 pm | General | Tags: , ,

Well, I’m not planning on moving but the last time that my mom did, she had a hard time finding any good and reputable moving trucks. We live in a small town and I guess there’s not a big demand for them. But she found a local company. Anyway, her move was just across town and they did a pretty good job. They did break a mirror but they promptly replaced it. But if I were moving across country, I wouldn’t have a clue. Of course, I would go do some research online to find the best movers at the best price. But I’m not planning a move anytime soon.

Continuing Your Education…

04.3.2009 | 10:32 pm | General | Tags: , ,

I’ve been thinking about continuing my education. So I have been doing some research online. While I’ve been searching, I’ve found St. Joseph University Online Management Certificate Program at www.sjuprofessional.com and it sounds like a really great program. If project management is your thing, you definitely need to check out this website. The curriculum prepares you to apply project management principles, to lead project teams to successful completion of projects and the program also helps with PMP exam preparation so the you can become a Certified Associate Project Manager. The average annual wage for a project manager is $111,020 with a projected growth of this field faster than average. So the potential of finding a job sounds really good and a really good starting salary.

Of course, I’m going to start classes in the fall to work on a degree in nursing. But this program sounds really good if this stuff interests you. I found the website very informative and if you need help it’s available 24/7. So if you are considering continuing your education in the near future…Good Luck!!!

Watching TV in the Morning…

04.1.2009 | 7:37 am | General | Tags: , ,

Since I’m off of work one day during the week now, I sometimes have the time to watch TV on those weekday mornings. And I’ve really noticed the different types of comercials that are advertised during that time frame. Yesterday morning, for instance, in an hour’s time I saw commercials about social security disability benefits, scooter chairs, how to contact Mesothelioma lawyers and continuing your education through online courses. I know that these commercials are aimed at the people that they feel are at home at this time but these people might also need cereal, toilet paper and cell phone service. And they might go see a movie ever now and then. This is just one thing that I notice when watching TV on weekday mornings.
