What do you think about doorbells? I think they are pretty neat, of course I don’t have one. But my daughter, Kecia has one and it seems like someone is always playing with it. Krista likes to push it repeatedly just to hear Charmin (the granddog) bark like crazy. I can picture it now, when Krista starts playing with the doorbell and the dog starts barking and then the baby starting crying (well, in about 7 months), it will be like a 3-ring circus. So I guess sometimes the doorbell can be rather annoying. So what do you think about doorbells….a help or hindrance???

I just love surfing the web, and looking at different stuff. I was looking today and I found something different. I found some stainless steel tiles. Now I have heard of porcelain and ceramic tiles but not stainless steel. But what I have looked at, you can used them in some ways that you would use ceramic or porcelain. Such as for backsplashes for the kitchen or bath, fireplace surrounds or accent walls. You use grout with them just like ceramic tiles. And I kept looking and also found copper tiles, too. I think they look really good.

I’ve been looking for new flooring for my bathroom and the kitchen. But I not sure what type of flooring that I would like for these rooms. I’ve been considering vinyl, laminate, ceramic tile and porcelain tile. I’m thinking that ceramic tile or porcelain tile would be the better choice especially for the bathroom since it’s a high moisture area. I work at a flooring store and we used to have some granite that I really liked but now I think I would like a lighter color than that. I have vinyl in the bathroom and kitchen now, so I definitely want to go with something different. But I’m not really sure of the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile. Since I work at a floor store, maybe someone can educate me on the differences and then I can decide.

I’ve been really busy lately getting some things done around the house. The remodeling project for the master bathroom is almost complete. We’ve got the new shower installed, so we still need to get the floor done and the painting. But I have also been cleaning out closets and getting rid of stuff that we no longer wear. I still plan on cleaning out my computer desk and getting rid of old junk mail (that I haven’t thown out). I also want to clean out my jewelry box and get rid of old bracelets and diamond rings that I don’t wear, and mismatched earrings. I could sell the gold stuff, some of the people at work have done that. Anyway, I been in a cleaning mood lately and so I guess I’ve started my spring cleaning a little early. And it makes me feel so good when I get it done.

I’m always thinking of ways to make my life easier around the house. But I’ve been browsing the internet and found something that would make my husband’s life easier. Of course, we probably couldn’t ever afford it but I’ve been looking at some car lifts. He’s always working on his truck or changing the oil in our cars and having a car lift would make these chores alot easier. He has a building that he could put one in but they are really expensive. I was just thinking it would be something good for him to have.

Since we are doing some remodeling around the house, I’ve been thinking about some security alarms. I would especially like to update our smoke alarms. I’ve been looking for a new smoke and fire alarm, ours now definitely need replacing.
Of course, there are other things that need replaced, too. I’m also planning on replacing the faucets in both bathrooms. So I’ve been looking at faucets, too.
It seems when you start remodeling, the list just keeps getting longer and longer.

It’s been a long week but I’m off of work on Friday. I think the girls (Kecia & Krista) and I are going to look at stuff for the remodeling jobs at the house on Friday. I’m still looking for a shower stall, some flooring for the bathrooms, and maybe some new table lamps. I also have a project in the works for making a closet in the space where the furnace used to be. We now have a heat pump so there is an empty space in the hall that would make a great closet. I want it to have shelves to store linens and other things. Of course, I would like a small light so that I can see in it. I would also like to look for an entertainment center for the living room. I would also like to look for some landscape lighting for Kecia and James’ house. While I have been looking online for lighting, I have noticed some really nice ceiling medallions and they are very pretty but a little too fancy for my house. But they really add something to the light fixtures.
Well, I am ready for the day off and I always enjoy spending time with my girls. So I know we’ll have a good time.

It seems that everytime that I need a light bulb, I don’t have any here. So it would be nice to have extras on hand for when they are needed. Of course, if I bought a bunch of light bulbs where would I put them? Since they are very fragile, I would need a good out of the way place to store them and I don’t have a lot of storage space. But I get so aggraviated when I need a light bulb and don’t have one. That’s just a little pet peeve of mine. Well, it’s late…so good night.

Since we are getting a tax refund, I’ve been thinking about remodeling the bathrooms (they are in need of it). I know in the master bath, we will be replacing the tub/shower combo for a corner shower stall. I would like to replace the sink and vanity while we are doing all this. I’m not sure about the lighting. I’ve looked around and found some really good prices on discount lights. Now I just need to decide if I would close to the ceiling or flush mounts. With my extra day off each week, my husband and I can work on this project together. I can’t wait to get started!!

I have been going through our monthly bills and I’m trying to find ways to cut back. I have been looking into changing our cable (in our case, satellite), internet access and telephone service. I checked on bundling with the local cable company yesterday and it was going to cost more to bundle. Really, I’m trying to save money, not spend more. And with our car insurance, I’m staying with State Farm but Krista is in the process of getting the Steer Clear discount. So eventually we will be saving some money there. I’m going to shop around for some less expensive life insurance. I’ve not even checked on that. And one other thing, we are going to refinance my van payment and get a cheaper rate. Dewayne got to go to the bank and finalize that tomorrow. Of course, at the grocery store, I have been using coupons and bonus cards. Does anyone have any suggestions of other ways that I could cut back and save??
