We have been currently updating some of our office equipment at work. We just recently got a new telephone system, and it is great! I have been trained on how to use all the different functions of this system, but the best part is that I have a direct phone line to my desk. We also got a new epson receipt printer and it is great, too. It prints quickly and quietly. Both of these new pieces of equipment is supposed to save us a lot of money, and that is the best reason for making the changes.

As you all probably already know but Kecia (from iamkecia.com and my oldest daughter) wants really badly to open a day care center. I’ve told her that I would like to do this with her. So that’s our 5-year plan but before then I need to take some business management courses (she’s taking day care management courses). The area that we live in has quite a few small business opportunities, such as carpet stores, custom rug stores (they make area rugs from the carpet from the local carpet mills) and there’s even businesses that makes carpet cove base (like the motels use) and that’s just to name a few. So I think within the next 5 years, my daughter and I will be venturing into the small business market, too.

I have been going through our monthly bills and I’m trying to find ways to cut back. I have been looking into changing our cable (in our case, satellite), internet access and telephone service. I checked on bundling with the local cable company yesterday and it was going to cost more to bundle. Really, I’m trying to save money, not spend more. And with our car insurance, I’m staying with State Farm but Krista is in the process of getting the Steer Clear discount. So eventually we will be saving some money there. I’m going to shop around for some less expensive life insurance. I’ve not even checked on that. And one other thing, we are going to refinance my van payment and get a cheaper rate. Dewayne got to go to the bank and finalize that tomorrow. Of course, at the grocery store, I have been using coupons and bonus cards. Does anyone have any suggestions of other ways that I could cut back and save??

During the cold winter nights, I think about a classic electric blanket to keep me warm and toasty. But there is so much more out there to keep you warm. There’s all kinds of things from a bed foot warmer to a heated mattress pad to keep you comfortable during the cold winter months. I especially like the heated throw and I think it would feel really good at night while watching TV or reading a good book. And then there’s a heated travel blanket that I would really like to have because when I travel with my husband (and he’s really hot natured), he usually keeps the heat in the van turned down low and I’m usually freezing. So a heated travel blanket would be great. And with the use of an electric blanket or a heated foot warmer, you could turn down the thermostat which would help save money on the power bill. Saving money is something that I really like doing!! So stay warm this winter!!

It’s time for an eye exam for me and my daughter, Krista. Since we both wear contacts, I’ve been been looking for some inexpensive backup eyeglasses. I found the popular online eyeglasses shop, Zenni Optical. They have the cutest and stylish frames and with their $8 Complete Rx Eyeglasses you could get several pairs for backups. Krista is always wanting to have a few different pairs so that she can change with different outfits and at this price she can. And with the collection of Holiday Glass Frames From Zenni Optical, both me and Krista could have a few pairs to go with our holiday outfits. My favorite pair for me is the Metal Alloy / Stainless Steel half rim frames and they are only $8.00.

My favorite for Krista would be the Plastic Fashion Full Rim Frame in Green and they are only $9.95. They would look so cute on Krista.

With these prices, I can’t go wrong and I can definitely afford a few pairs for each of us!
