Well, tomorrow is the last time that my daughter Krista will be out on the field marching. Like I have said before the last four years have just flown by. Krista tells me that they have changed the routine a little bit for tomorrow night’s show for the seniors (there’s more than 30 seniors). She says that it will bring tears to my eyes and my reply was that there will already be tears in my eyes. I mean, it’s the last game. I know, I know I’m dwelling…sorry. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow but I hope that it holds off…at least until after the game. I’m going to be videotaping it (I borrowed Kecia’s new Flip). So maybe I can upload it on here or put it on Youtube. I can’t wait to see the “new” routine!!

Only two more football games and Krista’s marching days will be history. It makes me sad because it seems to have just flown by. She’s planning on doing concert band in college but not marching. So this will be it. This past weekend at the JSU’s Contest of Champions went pretty good. Our band was one of the twelve bands to make the finals. And they ended up in 5th place which I thought was really good. But Krista was hoping that they would do better. I reminded her that they did make the finals and they could have ended up in 12th place. To me, there was a lot more tougher bands this week. So I think they did great.

Well, our team lost the football game last night….63-8. Yes, our team did show up. We played a high ranked team in the state. I feel really bad for the boys, I know it’s got to be hard on them. We only won 1 of the six games that we’ve played. Maybe next week, it will be homecoming so maybe we will win it (the team we play next week lost last night too…I think).
On a brighter note (no pun intended), the band was GREAT!! And yes, I’m a Band Mom. They really sounded good last night. The second song of the routine is ‘Amazing Grace’ and it is awesome!! It’s one of my favorite songs anyway…but it is good. Next Saturday will begin our competitions so hopefully we’ll be ready.
Last night was great football weather. It was a little cool but that’s the way I like it for football. I wore a light denim jacket and was comfortable. Wow, only 3 more games left and it will be over (Krista’s a senior this year). I’m already starting to miss it. Oh well, one chapter closes and another chapter opens…

This is Krista’s Senior Year and next year she will be moving away to go to college. She hasn’t decided yet where she will be attending but she has narrowed it down to 2 or 3. One thing for sure is that she will be living on campus. I’m sure when she moves, she will want to take a ton of stuff with her. So she will be needing a bunch of moving boxes for all that stuff. I’m going to try to convince her to leave a few things home. At least then she will have a reason to come home on the weekends. She will not be going so far away that she can’t come home on the weekends. That will be good.

It’s Krista’s senior year and we are getting ready to start looking at some colleges. We are going to visit a couple of colleges in November. She will be taking the SAT in November (trying to improve her previous score) and the ACT in December. There’s a really helpful website, www.collegeboard.com and it has lots of information. Krista even registered to take the SAT online at this website. She wants to become a high school math teacher someday. If anyone has any suggestions or advice, please share it with a comment or email.
Thanks!

Another Friday night and another loss. Yes, the Indians lost their football game Friday night against the Cardinals, 36 – 0. I thought that this year might be a winning year for us but now I’m not so sure. Oh well, there’s always next week. The band looked awesome!! Yes, I’m a band parent. They did a great job. They have a really great routine this year.
If you are like me and go to the high school football games whether to watch your football player, band student or cheerleader, you really need a folding stadium seat. These seats are really great for saving your back (not to mention, your backside). I have one and it makes watching those games on uncomfortable seats more bearable.
Anyway, I hope we have better luck next week!

Yeah! The Indians won the game last night!!! We had been on a 22 game losing streak. The last two years, we have been playing in 5A and that’s against some really tough schools. But this year we are back in 4A and so we should stand a better chance of winning.
Last night was also Senior Night. So Dewayne and I escorted Krista out on the football field to be recognized. Most of the family came out to see Krista get honored, that’s Me, Dewayne, Kecia, James and Zach. My mama, my sister and my mother-in-law also came to the game. The band performed during half time and they did a really good job.
The next game is September 5 and I’ll let you know how the team does then.

Yesterday was the first pep rally of the year. Tonight is the first football game….I hope we win. Anyway, the senior moms (moms of 12th graders not elderly moms…lol) did a little dance routine to honor their senior…whether they were a football player, cheerleader or a band member. We had been practicing for 2 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays to learn the dance routine. The owner of the local dance studio choreographed it. We danced to “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne. There was about 23 of us in the group and the routine lasted about a minute. We all wore football jerseys and performed on the football field (and yes it was very hot). But we all had a really good time.

Today was the first day of school for the kids. Krista is in the 12th grade now and Zach is in the 9th grade. Zach is riding to school with Krista this year since they are at the same school (Well, she is at the high school and he is across the street at the ninth grade academy). It seems a little weird because this is the first time in many, many years that I don’t have to drive a kid to school. Krista and Zach both said that they had a good day and Zach said that he didn’t get lost (but who knows??).

Today was the last day of school for Krista and Zach. I can’t believe Krista is about to be a senior! One more year of school and band for her. What’s even more unbelieveable is Zach is going to be in high school. Won’t be long until he’ll be graduating. 2 years from now, Dewayne and I will have to be worrying about him driving…Let’s just hope he doesn’t drive a car like he does a go-cart!
