Zach (my son) definitely needs one of these hitch bike rack, if you takes a bike to school. We have talked about him taking a bike when he goes to college to help him get to classes, and from the dorm to the dining hall (a place that he says he will be spending a lot of time). He’s so funny, talking about how much time he plans on spending in the dining hall because he doesn’t eat that much. But if he decides on a bike, I think he definitely needs a bike rack.

If you are like our household and have too many trophies, what do you do with them all?? Especially after the kids are grown and don’t want to take them to their own houses. I mean, we have baseball and soft ball trophies (from all three kids), golf trophies (from the oldest, Kecia) wrestling trophies (from the youngest, Zach), and band trophies (from the middle child, Krista). That’s a lot of trophies….so what do you do with them all?? Kecia is married and has her own house now but she doesn’t want all of her trophies from her youth and I don’t want to just throw them away. And I almost forgot, we have a ton of winning plaques, too. Dewayne (the hubby) has fishing plaques (from fishing tournaments) and Zach has started getting plaques from his FFA contests. So for now I guess I’ll put them in crates and put them in the storage building. I just don’t have enough wall space and shelf space for them all. Oh, well I’m really proud of them but there’s so many.

Another Friday night and another loss for the football team. I feel really bad for them but at least they go out there every week and try. The band did good (or at least I think they did but you know I am a band mom). Some of the people on the opposing team were really rude especially the announcer. In my opinion he should be replaced. Between the third and fourth quarter, the opposing team had some kind of ceremony or announcement (it was senior night and they had already had a ceremony pre-game and another ceremony during half-time) and our band had been playing not realizing that they were having another ceremony….honestly. So after the ceremony, the announcer said over the PA system that he would like to thank our band for playing during their ceremony. That statement upset a lot of our band parents….not to mention our band director. So after the game (and after we performed since we were told that we had to play post-game), the other band director and some of his band parents stopped us in the parking lot and said that the announcer sent his sincere apologies for making that statement. So I guess it’s all good and since this is Krista’s senior year I guess we won’t be playing there anymore. At least not until wrestling season and that starts next week.
Yes, wrestling practice starts on Monday for Zach. This is what he’s been working toward since he was 4 years old (that’s when he started wrestling). I mean, wrestling for the high school (it just seems unreal that my little boy is in high school…oh well, another story another time). He got his physical Thursday and got all the forms that the school requires along with the special form saying that he is healthy to wrestle. The school seems to think that he is underweight (his BMI is too low). Anyway, he’s been to the wrestler’s meeting with the coaches, got his physical, and the form for the team’s fundraiser….so he is ready!! The fundraiser is a Lift-A-Thon…which is that he (well, we) get sponsors to either pledge (like 5 cents a pound) or a flat donation. Then on Nov. 14th, they will have the Lift-A-Thon and there each wrestler will bench press as much weight as they can and his sponsors that pledged will pay whatever they pledged per pound times how many pounds that he bench presses. I think this fundraiser will be great. Well, enough said about wrestling. You’ll be hearing enough from me when the season starts….I can’t wait! I love this sport!!!

Well, our team lost the football game last night….63-8. Yes, our team did show up. We played a high ranked team in the state. I feel really bad for the boys, I know it’s got to be hard on them. We only won 1 of the six games that we’ve played. Maybe next week, it will be homecoming so maybe we will win it (the team we play next week lost last night too…I think).
On a brighter note (no pun intended), the band was GREAT!! And yes, I’m a Band Mom. They really sounded good last night. The second song of the routine is ‘Amazing Grace’ and it is awesome!! It’s one of my favorite songs anyway…but it is good. Next Saturday will begin our competitions so hopefully we’ll be ready.
Last night was great football weather. It was a little cool but that’s the way I like it for football. I wore a light denim jacket and was comfortable. Wow, only 3 more games left and it will be over (Krista’s a senior this year). I’m already starting to miss it. Oh well, one chapter closes and another chapter opens…

At 9:30am on Saturday, Zach had to be at the school to go to a local wellness center for a hydration test for the wrestling team. Krista dropped him off at the school. But before they left from the school, the coach checked each wrestler’s BMI (body mass index) and Zach’s was too low. He’s about 5 ft. 9 in. and weighs 123 lbs., so his BMI is 18.2 and anything under 18.5 is considered underweight. I don’t think he looks underweight (I think he looks just fine). I mean, he’s just tall and slim unlike the rest of us.
So now, when he gets his sports physical we also have to get a letter from the doctor stating that he is healthy enough to wrestle (Oh by the way, he’s been wrestling since he was 4 and he is 14 now). Needless to say, he didn’t get to do the hydration test either.
Anyway, wrestling season will be starting soon (practice starts Nov. 3), so you all will be hearing all about how the wrestling season is going. I absolutely love this sport! It’s so intense! More to come later…

Oh well, we lost the football game last night, 57-14. It’s sad for the players, who go out there and try so hard. Maybe next week.
Well, the band sounded really great. They are really getting the routine good now even though they still don’t play the final song of the routine. Next week, we get to see the entire show with all the songs!
This year is the 50th anniversary of our band. Last night, we had former members of the band on the field with the current band for an alumni night. It was really neat! A man that goes to church with us was there and he was a member from the first band in 1958!
Krista is going to my sister’s house today. My sister had surgery and Krista is going to help her with some laundry and other household chores. My sister lives about 40 miles away, so Krista is needing to stop and get gas before going there. I checked the gas prices on the internet before she left.
Krista is gone for the night and Zach is gone for the weekend, so it is just me and Dewayne tonight. We might have to go out on a date tonight. Any suggestions?
I guess I need to be cleaning. So I hope you all have a GREAT weekend!

Tonight we have the third game of the season. We have one win and one loss, so a win tonight would be nice. The game is home, so there is no driving 50+ miles to an away game which is also nice.
Krista is having to get everything she needs for the game (she’s in the band). So she was running around this morning like something crazy. Maybe she got everything, such as black socks, black short (to wear under her uniform) and her black gloves. Usually I get a call asking if we can bring her something she forgot.
Well, I got to finish getting ready for work. One last thought:
GO INDIANS!!!…..and have a GREAT day!!
