This year, we are planning on taking our family vacation a little later in the summer. Krista and I start back to college in mid August and Zach doesn’t start school until the Tuesday after Labor Day. So maybe we won’t have to pay the ‘peak summer’ prices. Which is great! The past four years we have been to Panama City Beach, but this year we might want to go somewhere different. So I’m thinking about Disneyworld. It’s been several years since we have been to Disneyworld, and my family and I just love Disney vacations. There is always so much to do. What are your family’s plans for this year’s vacation??

I’m already planning our next family vacation. Of course, it won’t be until next summer but I’m trying to decide where to go. We’ve been going to Panama City Beach for several years now and we really like going there. But sometimes I think it might be fun to go somewhere else. We’ve been to Disneyworld two times and it’s been a long time since we have been there. Kecia (my oldest daughter) wants us to go with her and her husband, James in a couple of years from now when she graduates college. I would like to try to do that. And a friend of mine has talked to me about las vegas hotels and the fun things to do in las vegas besides gambling. That might be a possibility. I have been wanting to go to Niagara Falls, too. So I’m looking for some place new. Any suggestions???

I’ve been getting ready for our vacation, we’ll be leaving in three weeks and I can’t wait! We are going to Panama City Beach and we’ve been going there for a few years now. But I really love going to the beach. For next year, I’ve been thinking about going somewhere different. I have looked at the Westgate resorts and if you go look at their website, you can check out all the locations of the resorts. There’s one in Branson, Missouri and Las Vegas. And if we decide to stay closer to home, there’s one in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. So if we decide to do something different next year, I’ll be keeping this in mind.

My husband and I really need to get away for the weekend. It’s been a really long time since we have done that. There’s a lot of different kinds of weekend getaways within an hour or so drive from home. We could rent a mountain cabin, go to Gatlinburg or head down to Atlanta. Of course, we could go to the beach for the weekend but that is farther away. I guess finding the time (and money) to go away for the weekend is the hard part. But I think I would really like to rent a mountain cabin for the weekend.

Well, Krista is all ready for the prom. We got her dress last Tuesday and it is so pretty. It’s black with sequins down the front and yesterday we got the shoes and jewelry. Got the hair and nail appointment, so she’s ready. And then, we will be getting ready for the graduation and then a senior trip. I’m thinking that a cruise would make a good trip. And some Caribbean cruises leave out of Mobile, AL and that’s not that far away. For the graduation party, I’m planning on a luau theme and we will have it at my mother-in-law’s pool. So that should be fun. All these dates will be here soon enough.

We have been to Disneyworld in Florida but I have never been to Disneyland in California. I have never been to California. So I was thinking that it would be a neat idea for vacation this year. I could find an Anaheim California hotel that would be walking distance from Disneyland. My family and I have really enjoyed going to Disneyworld and I think we would enjoy Disneyland, too. But of course, it would be hard to get my hubby to fly. So I guess that would be a problem. Oh well, I guess that would make a good vacation destination if we lived a little closer. Maybe some day.

I was just thinking about my Christmas vacation (I was off of work for thirteen days) and had a lot of time on my hands. Which is normal for the time off I have at Christmas time. After Christmas, I really don’t do anything but rest and relax. I stay up as late as I want and I sleep as late as I want. Usually, after Christmas it is just me and Krista because Dewayne and Zach going deer hunting. So I get a lot of reading and television watching done. And you know, during my weekday tv watching, I noticed that just about every other commercial was either about going to college so you can get that dream job you have always wanted or a law firm trying to get you to sue about some recalled diet drug that you may have taken or about asbestos-related mesothelioma that you may have due to exposure. I usually do my tv watching at night and I have to say that I noticed the commercials are really different then.

I have been thinking about planning this year’s family vacation. Of course, I haven’t started any research yet and I am going to have to think about the date, too. We usually go on vacation at the end of July but since that will be getting close to the birth of my first grandchild, we are probably going in June this year. Next thing to think about is the destination. We have been going to Panama City Beach for several years now, so maybe this year we’ll go somewhere else. In past years, I considered going to Branson, Missouri and Niagara Falls. One of our neighbors is from Niagara Falls and she told me to definitely stay on the Canada side if we ever go there. I have always thought I would like to go to Las Vegas. There’s a guy at work that been there several times and he could help me with finding a hotel in las vegas. That would be helpful and of course, he could tell me about sights that I would definitely want to see. Last year, we had decided to go to Islamorada, Florida and then the price of gas went up so high that we changed our minds. I mean, it is over 800 miles one way. But I think that would have been fun. Of course, if the economy doesn’t get better and my husband’s work improves, we maybe just staying around home and go camping at a local lake. Of course, that would be fine with me, too.

My sister and I were planning on taking our mama on a cruise this year, but with no available vacation days, illness (my sister has had to have surgery this fall) and the lack of funds has made us postpone the trip. But we are trying our best to go on that cruise next year. Our mama has never been on a cruise so we are hoping everything will fall into place. I’ve been looking on the internet for that perfect cruise with an affordable price. What’s really caught my eye is the Mediterranean cruises but we would have to take a shorter one than them. But could you imagine all the cities that you would visit…Rome, Venice, Florence, Gibraltar, and Istanbul. My daughter, Kecia (from iamkecia.com) has been to Rome, Venice and Florence and says that they are absolutely beautiful places to see. I would love to go visit cities that are centuries old. Oh well, maybe someday. Until then I need to be searching for cruises that are in our budget.

I know it’s a little early but I’m starting to think about next year’s vacation. We always go to the beach in Florida but next year I’m thinking we might do something different. Krista will be just graduated and we could make it like a senior trip (but with the family). There’s always a cruise. I went on one a long time ago and it was fabulous. But then I have always wanted to go to Las Vegas. I’m not much of a gambler but there is all of the shows that I have been told are great! Of course, we would need a Las Vegas strip map to help us get around and to find our motel when we get there. I’m not sure where we would stay, does anyone have any suggestions?? Well, finding a place to stay would be the last thing to worry about. Getting my husband to fly would be the challenge (he’s never flown before). Oh well, I just think that would be a fun trip.
